Everything comes in a box subscription of some sort these days. And meals are no exception! Thank goodness!

I’ve tried several different meal subscription boxes and I can say after being a customer for 2 years that Sun Basket is by far my favorite!

For a time, I seriously don’t know how I would have survived with my sanity intact had I not had the support of this fantastic pre-prepped meal service.

A couple of years ago I temporarily moved to San Francisco (from Seattle, Wa) for work. Shortly before moving back to Seattle, I learned that my best friend had been diagnosed with cancer. (He’s currently in remission, and doing very well!)

At the time there was absolutely no hesitation on my end. I didn’t have a new place to live yet in Washington and there wasn’t a cell in my body that was alright with him living alone during his treatment. So I moved in.

Living with this man while he battled cancer was an experience I really don’t have words for. To watch someone so young battling something so deadly with such grace, kindness, patience, and strength while still expressing a measure of vulnerability was and is to this day one of the most inspiring experiences of my life. He is my hero.

During this time I was working 45hrs a week at my job which happened to be a 1hr commute there and a 1.5hr commute home in the evenings. So I would get up in the mornings around 5 am and get home around 7:20 pm. I was a family assistant at the time so my day was spent caring for others’ needs and then I’d get home exhausted and need to get everything done for our household and it was of the utmost importance that I was creating very healthy meals!

Now, the exact circumstances may be different but I know this is the same overall experience for so many!! Up early, long commutes, long exhausting days at work, and caring for your family. And somehow amongst everything going on trying to come up with healthy meals to serve ourselves and loved ones.

It’s not easy! In fact, it’s incredibly difficult. I remember a couple of times calling my dad (my other hero) in tears because I was exhausted and feared I wasn’t doing a good enough job at everything, worried I wasn’t doing enough. When really I was just spread too thin.

I realized I needed a bit of help. That help came in the way of meal prep. I had used Sun Basket before and loved it, I had also tried other boxed meal subscriptions but I settled on Sun Basket because they are:

  • certified organic

  • responsibly raised meats

  • sustainably sourced seafood

  • quick & easy

  • choose any recipe you like

  • skip a week if you need to

  • cancel anytime

  • different meal choices- Lean & Clean, Paleo, Gluten-Free, Vegan, Mediterranean, Vegetarian, Pescatarian, diabetes-friendly, and Chef’s Choice

  • delicious!

comes well packed

I started receiving a weekly Sun Basket box with 3 meals for 2 people. Just doing this one simple thing took the edge off! I mean, what a difference for me! Knowing that 3 days a week (I used them during my workweek) I didn’t have to even think about dinner was a huge relief. I didn’t have to meal plan and try to get to the grocery store. I just came home, pulled out the bag of ingredients for that night’s meal and relaxed (usually with a little glass of wine), and enjoyed the easy prep and cooking. Knowing I was preparing and serving high-quality, healthy food!

Using Sun Basket allowed me to enjoy my evenings again while saving time!

everything you need for a delicious meal

eco friendly packaging

organic, non GMO ingredients

easily mixing ingredients

beef skewer

It suffices to say I’m a huge Sun Basket fan now!

They make it so easy to customize how many meals you want to receive a week and for how many people you need. There is a classic menu which includes 3 recipes and you can choose if you’d like that to be for 2 or 4 people. They also have a family menu that is designed for 4 people and you can choose between 2, 3, or 4 recipes per week. You can also add snacks to your box and customize your protein!

xx Sarah
